INILAH bentuk
eksplorasi maksimal sekaligus cermin evolusi sebuah band. Pergantian
personel tidak membuat langkah mereka tersendat. Justru sebaliknya,
kehadiran p
ersonel baru memperkaya warna musik Auticed. “Selalu ada
warna baru setiap kali ada pergantian personel. Perubahan paling kentara
ketika kita berganti gitaris,” tutur Angga, basis Auticed.
Sejak didirikan pada 17 November 2006, Auticed telah dua kali mengalami
pergantian gitaris. Pertama ketika Mario — yang termasuk salah satu
pendiri Auticed — diganti Zulfi. Substitusi ini dengan serta merta
mengubah ciri suara gitar Auticed. Demikian halnya ketika Zulfi cabut
dan sekarang gabung ke Dajjal. Penggantinya, Gilang, langsung memberi
warna baru.
Sebenarnya, pergantian personel bukan hanya terjadi di sektor gitar.
Slot vokal pun sempat dua kali mengalami perubahan. Pergantian pertama
ketika Awink digantikan Novan. Terakhir, Rezi masuk mengisi pos yang
ditinggalkan Novan. Namun pergantian vokalis tidak begitu memberikan
perubahan yang signifikan terhadap warna musik Auticed. Perubahan paling
kentara akibat pergantian vokalis terjadi di segi lirik.
Awink memberikan kontribusi besar di balik lirik lagu Bidadari Budak
Mucikari dan Jala Hitam Ksatria. Sementara jejak Novan bisa dilihat dari
nomor Aku Masih di Surga. Tampak jelas bagaimana perbedaan diksi yang
dipilih mantan dua vokalis Auticed itu dengan gaya bertutur Rezi.
Dan seluruh proses evolusi itu bisa kita rasakan lewat album pertama
mereka, Cemetary of Necronymph, yang dirilis pada Juli 2011 di bawah
label Rottrevor Records.
Auticed menganggap proses tersebut sebagai evolusi yang wajar terjadi
dalam sebuah band. Tapi, di antara fase evolusi yang mereka anggap wajar
itu, terselip juga perubahan yang justru mereka cetuskan sendiri secara
sadar. Yakni, ketika Auticed berada dalam fase pencarian identitas
musik paling krusial.
Auticed sadar, banyak band-band deathmetal berkualitas yang lahir di
Bandung. Untuk meneguhkan eksistensi di antara kepungan setumpuk
band-band bagus itu, mereka merasa harus memiliki sebuah ciri khas. Maka
kemudian timbul hasrat untuk memasukkan unsur-unsur musik klasik.
Ide tersebut muncul dipicu kekaguman mereka terhadap karya-karya klasik
Sebastian Bach, Mozart, Frederic Chopin, sampai Bethoven. Di saat
bersamaan mereka juga sangat terinspirasi oleh band-band seperti
Disavowed, Decrepit Birth, Dissection, Obscura, Fleshgod Apocalypse, dan
sebangsanya.
Masalah muncul
ketika harus mencari titik temu antara musik klasik yang halus dan
karakter deathmetal yang keras. Dan, manifestasi pencarian titit temu
itu bisa kita lihat pada karya-karya Auticed mutakhir. Tepatnya setelah
Gilang menempati posisi gitaris.
